Once upon a time there was family that my family has been close to my entire life. Their kids and my brother and I grew up together. Last week, the oldest son of that family tried to take his life. Over the weekend, the doctors ran tests and found that the only part of his brain even remotely functioning was the stem. After running more tests yesterday, his family made the very difficult decision of taking him off of medical support. It was either that or put him in a long-term care facility where he would live in a permanent coma. He passed away this evening.

This sucks because I just went through all of this less than two months ago. I'm praying that this isn't something that is going to come in threes. I don't know how I would handle it if a third something like this came my way.

One thing that was certainly an act of grace was his family didn't have to go through several months of a roller coaster ride like we did a few months ago.

But I will say two words that sums it all up.....this sucks.
